The AF tested a couple of these things at the range at Eglin a few years back. Sort of looks like a little nuc when it detonates. But I understand it’s designed for air burst, at least the Eglin units were.
I live about 30 miles SE of the Yakima Firing Range and behind several high desert mountain ranges and we can hear the live artillery fire when that takes place.
Visited Eglin way back in the early fifties. What most impressed me on the base was the hangar that they could cool down to subzero temperatures. After that visit, I returned to Tyndall because the chow was better there.
