Are there others besides me who believe many voters
turned to Trump because they thought the Democrats
were going too far left, too damned fast? I’m not
talking about myself because I am a lifelong conservative.
A large number of people don’t just vote FOR one side,
they also vote AGAINST the other. You wouldn’t know
it by all the water the media carried for the liberals
for years but throngs of people just are not willing to jump
on the Obama socialist bandwagon. And, Trump offered
enough conservative ideas to draw other voters away
from the get along RINO candidates.
Guys like Perlstein can’t and won’t understand that we
don’t reside in a vacuum.
At least 20% of Trump's votes were votes against Hillary. And 20% of Hillary's votes were against Trump. All elections are about the lesser of two evils. This one was an extreme example of that.
Hillary was the personification of everything that people find wrong with the direction the US is going. Even the 20% who voted for Hillary as the lesser of two evils saw her as the personification of everything wrong with the US
The 20% who chose Trump as the lesser of two evils basically had the position that they didn't have a clue what Trump would do if elected. They did not know what campaign promises he would keep and what he did not take seriously. But they did know what Hillary would do and did not like it
