Russian Navy vessels make port call in S. Korea for friendship visit
BUSAN, April 11 (Yonhap) -- Two vessels belonging to the Pacific Fleet of the Russian naval forces made a port call Tuesday at the South Korean coastal city of Busan as part of a regular exchange program with the South Korean Navy.
The call at the port of South Korea's Naval Operations Command by the guided-missile cruiser Varyag and the tanker Pechenga, both 11,000-ton vessels, was the second this year to be made by Russian warships.
The two vessels will stay in Busan for four days, with crew members to take part in exchange and volunteer activities with their South Korean counterparts.
Commissioned in 1989 for the Soviet Navy, the Varyag features an array of deadly anti-ship, anti-sub and anti-aircraft weaponry, carries 520 crew members and has the capacity to sail at a maximum of 59 kilometers per hour.
The Pechenga is capable of 7,000 tons of fuel, 300 tons of mineral water and 1,500 tons of freight with 60 crew members boarding the ship. It is capable of sailing at a maximum of 29 kph.
South Korea's Naval Operations Command has promoted exchange programs with the United States, Russia and other major countries to discuss ways to enhance its rescue operations in maritime accidents and expand exchanges and cooperation.

P!
Emphasis: SOUTH Korea...
Very, very interesting considering what is going on with North Korea.
The sharks are circling Norkboy. Russian sharks, American sharks, Chinese sharks, all for “humanitarian” reasons. A common enemy can be beneficial to international relations.
russia is our natural ally
“russia is our natural ally”
Oh boy. The NeverTrumper bunch will come down HEAVY on you...calling you a Putin troll. Watch out!!!
The United States had freiendly relations with Russa from our founding till 1917.
So natural their soldiers are ingrained daily that they will kill Americans...
For sure...and it’s time we work together to bring some order to the world. We have plenty of enemies, whether we want them or not - with Russia, it’s our choice, and they are much, much, better being with us than against us.
I think we all know that a message is being delivered here.
That ship can go 66 mph? Wow.
Thank you for all of the Asia specific posts (and translations)!!!
I’m going back to China next month (Xiamen), and I’m curious how attitudes have changed since my last visit during Obozos tenure.

I am getting whiplash from the mental olympics diehard Trumpers go through to never see wrong in anything he does no matter the betrayal of what he ran on was.
It’s a helluva ship.
?? KILOMETERS per hour, not mph, big difference
Intersting. Thanks. That was a major gap in my civil war knowledge.
I’m a diehard too...it definitely ruined my Thursday evening to see missiles being fired at Syria, and I quickly figured out that Deep State concluded that if they show Trump pictures of children suffering (or dead, in this case), they’ll get the knee-jerk response they want...and so they did.
So I HOPE very much that the optimistic views on this wind up being the case...such as sending a message to China and the Norks that we mean business, and also being done sticking our noses in Syria, some place we simply don’t belong and are likely getting played, big time.
