WASHINGTON ― After staying away for much of the race, the Democratic Party came to the aid of James Thompson, the Democrat running to fill the House seat vacated by Donald Trump appointee Mike Pompeo, just before voters went to the polls Tuesday.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee on Monday began doing live calls to 25,000 households in Kansas 4th Congressional District, urging residents to vote in Tuesdays unexpectedly competitive special election.
National Democrats have held off committing their resources to Thompsons campaign, citing the difficulty of flipping an ultra-conservative district that Trump carried by nearly 30 percentage points in November. Thompson criticized their reluctance as establishment thinking in an interview on Sunday, maintaining that a lot of people dont want to be proven wrong.

I want more schadenfreude too once the polls close.
Are you making this a live thread and posting results here?
I don’t know anything about Kansas but the special election for the recently vacant House seat here in Georgia is a massive fail.
It’s one idiot Democrat with a Billion Dollars worth of adds versus 16 freakin republicans that can’t get their name out.
It’s going to be a disaster and they plan to blame Trump.
No
Jim Thompson, FOR REAL? WOW He has quite a reputation here on F R.
Estes should win with no problems. His the current Sec of State. people voted for him for that position.

Dude, it’s a primary if there are SIXTEEN REPUBLICANS running....right?
Hope there’s 4 lead anchors to drag him to the bottom of Davy Jones’ locker.
The local medias are doing their part for the democrats as this is the district next to mine. They were all pimping about how the demonrat has a chance here in many of their articles.
Based on this district’s past voting results, I doubt they flip it. Although media manipulation has worked before as we got the loony libtard, Sebelius, twice as governor. Plus all the resources coming in from the dems so who knows. I hope people of that district are smarter than that.

Your comments apply to GA district. The local RINO party is throwing it away.
Does anyone have a good feed on voter turnout in this special election? I think the polls close at 7:00 Kansas time which I believe is 6:00 PM on the east coast!!!
Sorry...8:00 PM on the East Coast.
That's too bad, I try to spread the word around here in Kansas on just how bad our medias are when it comes to politics. I've dealt with them personally, including the media directors, and have been kicked off plenty of comment sections trying to give the other side of the story. Many have shut down their comment sections so you can't even debate the lies they are saying/printing.
It's very frustrating on how all these medias, local and national, are used as a manipulating weapon against the American people. We just need to continue to expose them through word of mouth and social medias.

I think the R wins, but Gov Brownback, by doing things right (like not expanding medicaid) has energized the wacky loons, and it will be closer than expected.
16Rs?
Will there not be a runoff?
He really gets around, our Jim Thompson.
In GA special election if one candidate gets 50.1% they win outright. If no candidate reaches 50.1%, the top two candidates will be in a runoff scheduled in June.
Hopefully, Dem John Ossoff will fall short of the 50.1 mark landing him in a runoff with Republican Karen Handel. Once we make it to runoff, the GOP should easily win
