“Also never underestimate the stupidity of the GOPe.”
So very true.
If the GOP were a party that fights like Dems, the Dems would be toast. By that, I mean completely done for. Destroyed. Eradicated. Regionalized. That party is a complete disaster right now and could be completely destroyed if GOP leadership was effective.
The GOP has the ability to beat the Democratic Party in 2018 ... if they were to increase their control of the Senate to 60 seats (which is NOT out of the realm of possibility), the Democratic Party would start to eat itself and sanity would be restored to the Republic ... while the Dems are busy killing each other, their money would start to dry up and they would not be able to mount an effective campaign during the 2020 POTUS election.
However, I am not seeing one damn thing being done by House and Senate leadership to make this a reality. Nothing. They’ve done token favors thus far, but they are clearly more interested in maintaining a status quo vs. overhauling the FedGov and giving back power to the states ... you know, things they spew on the campaign trail, but fail to do once elections are over. I guess that’s not “stupidity” ... it’s more by design.
Hopefully Trump can break the back of the uniparty ... it’s still very early to ascertain if that’s going to happen.
This latest Democrat slaughter occurred after DNC newbie Perez bragged Democrats would show that their resistance to Trump could be translated into electoral victories.
To add insult to injury, the Minnesota, Connecticut, Virginia Democrat losses are the states Hillary (cough) "won" in the 2016 presidential election.

EXCERPT-----As President Obama concludes his reign of error, his party is smaller, weaker and ricketier than it has been since at least the 1940s. Behold the tremendous power that Democrats have frittered away from January 2009 through the aftermath of Election Day thanks to Obama and his ideas:
Democrats surrendered the White House to political neophyte Donald J. Trump.
US Senate seats slipped from 55 to 46, down 16 percent.
US House seats fell from 256 to 194, down 24 percent.
Democrats ran the Senate and House in 2009. Next year, they will control neither.
Governorships slid from 28 to 16, down 43 percent.
State legislatures (both chambers) plunged from 27 to 14, down 48 percent.
Trifectas (states with Democrat governors and both legislative chambers) cratered from 17 to 6, down 65 percent.
