He wasn't dragged off the plane because they overbooked it, he was dragged off the plane because he threw an out-of-control (drug-induced??) fit and did not obey the instructions of the flight crew ... as
all passengers on commercial airliners are required by federal law to do.
I'm not condoning what UAL did, but this man's actions contributed significantly to what happened to him.
