I think the existing regime idiocy is more trouble to China than annexing it and being in charge would be. NK is supplying large amounts of coal to China, and it has a lot of arable land and coastal value. NK might prosper as SK and China have under different rule.

A native replacement for the Kim regime might mean decades of errors and the temptation to go back to the Kim ways of doing things. China annexing it and stepping in might avoid those decades of difficulty. Of course, SK taking over might do the same, but China isn’t going to allow that.

China deploying troops at North Korea border after assassination (February 15, 2017)

. . .China fears instability at its shared border with North Korea.

The news may be behind a Beijing decision to increase the number of troops at the border, according to the Information Center for Human Rights and Democracy, a nongovernmental organization in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong newspaper Oriental Daily News reported China has deployed 1,000 additional troops to the area, and that local residents have confirmed their arrival. . .

With the amount of debt the US owes China and the incredible amount of Chinese investments in the US, I want to believe in my heart that the Chinese leadership won’t do anything negative that harms the Golden Goose... us the USA

Jet lag, blah. I remember the days and do not miss them.

I look at it with a different twist. There are thousands of businesses in the US that rely on Chinese manufacturers for their products. If for some reason the Chicoms are not on board with President Trump when he takes action against the NK regime and the Chinese intervene, possible sanctions, manufacturing and products will not be reaching the US. It would take some time (months) for the US manufacturing to gear up to produce the products that the Chicoms were producing.

Sure it would create jobs and boost manufacturing over here but at what expense and for how long. Maybe this is the grand plan and possibly it will all shake out for the betterment of the US manufacturing and for the People.

Only they know and we can speculate.

Deal’s been worked out with Trump. China gets a new province (NoKor), the DMZ comes down, the mine fields are cleared, friendly borders are established, US troops go home unlimited. NorKor people are free to choose China or SoKor citizenship (sort-of).

My wild-azz guess.

US neutron bomb anti-personnel use - NoKor troops - 9 or so left within 5 minutes. No residual radiation. Geography ready to move in.

My guess is different. Why would China want the "bad neighborhood" of N. Korea? Then they would have the trouble of fixing up, supporting the hungry masses, dealing with all of the logistical problems, etc. Yeah, a few decades ago they would have just killed them all and taken their time at moving in, but NOW they depend on doing business with the West.

My guess is the Chinese engineer a plot to take out the fat boy and all of his kin. NK is permitted to be absorbed by SK, like a big East/West Germany.

Not a crazy idea at all. In this day and age economic growth and prosperity is the order of the day. N Korea is a hindrance to that process. Full bellies and freedom for all.

“This is ugly news.”

Yep, the 24 Dongfeng-21 aircraft carrier destroyer missiles aren’t there for anything to do with North or South Korea...

I doubt it. Neither China or Russia are sure the numbskull in NK won't launch a nuke at them

No evidence of that. NK leaders have never said a word about attacking China or Russia. NK's wrath has always been directed at SK and US.
