They have to beat their chests or suffer embarrassment. You can bet they will not be using gas in the future, therefore, no need to “cross red lines”. Now that the world knows that Trump is willing to use our massive military, they will not be crossing us again. He can now speak softly and people will listen, because they know he has a big stick and is prepared to use it.

I really believe, as well, that Russia knew about this. As for timing, Trump gave them warning to save their lives.
However, I have no geopolitical military planning experience :) so I am probably wrong about this
