STOCKHOLM (AP) — Sweden’s prime minister says a truck crash in Stockholm was an attack on Sweden. It’s the latest in a string of incidents where drivers have used their vehicles as weapons. Some were orchestrated by extremist groups, others by unstable individuals with unclear motives. Radical groups have urged supporters to use any weapons at hand, including cars, a tactic that presents a major challenge for security forces around the world. Here’s a look at some other attacks:

How liberals react to terror attacks:

No conclusions should be drawn from these attacks. Only after exhaustive study of the g-forces, mass calculations, fuel prices, lugnut bolt torque-tightening specs, and accelerometer readings can we obtain the requisite understanding of the motivations behind these attacks.
I am afraid that these kind of attacks are going to happen more often. All it takes is a stolen truck and someone willing to die for his 70 virgins. Any place where there are large numbers of pedestrians will do. The only defense may be to not let people hungry for 70 virgins into one’s country, but that, of course, would violate the Establishment clause.

Trucks are really far superior to guns for mass murder. After all, renting one raises no suspicion and there’s no background check for buying or renting. Also no suspicious bulges in one’s clothing, no suspicious packages, and no buying ammo from suspicious clerks or having to sign for a delivery from Fed. Ex. Then the mass killing is totally by surprise,accompanied by huge mass killing power.
Indeed, the only way an atrocity like this can be stopped is by a good man in the right place at the right time with a gun. All the more reason for broad based legal carry.
While Islam is unjustly blamed for all of these attacks, we have to keep in mind the facts. Only six of the eight attacks listed were conducted by Muslims, who account for just over 3% of the overall population in these countries. The other 97% of the population committed two attacks.
I would rather people think about the millions of peaceful Muslims who did not commit violent truck attacks, and the dozens who didn’t even cheer for those attackers. Remember: #NotAllMuslims.
Using trucks and cars as weapons against people is a lot easier and cheaper than learning to fly an airplane into a building.
