Something explains her not retiring under Barack.

Yes, something does and I've pondered that for a long time. Sometimes I think it just comes down to personality. Ginsburg is very arrogant and a diehard feminist with an overweening sense of her place in history. She may be just to damn full of herself to ever retire voluntarily.

It's also possible that she just didn't like Barky (narcissists generally can't stand each other) and was determined to wait for the first woman president... only to have Hillary! choke and blow it.

Your thoughts are very similar to my own.

A Ginsberg quote: (I think 2014)

““If I resign any time this year, he could not successfully appoint anyone I would like to see in the court,” the oldest member of the high court said. “[A]nybody who thinks that if I step down, Obama could appoint someone like me, they’re misguided,” later adding that she can “do the job full steam.””

“Like me”....odds are she meant as good as her.

But some think she was referring to her Jewishness and recognizing Obama’s anti-semitism streak.
