Half mile off malibu would be awesome. Then the illegal housekeepers and gardeners could see them. ;-)

"now open up the California coast for drilling"

Do you even read these articles?

Its confusing because they are talking about different things.

Look at line 3 and it says that trump could come up with a new 5 year drilling plan but it would take years to develop, so it is not likely he will do that. The next five year drilling plan will be written by whoever wins the next presidential election, which could be trump. As it is the current plan that Obamy put in place 2017-2022 is 2 sales per year in the Gulf of Mexico in the spring and fall. They just had the spring sale in the gulf a couple of weeks ago. Also the 5 year plan includes one sale in Cook Inlet Alaska.

As for drilling offshore California, Trump can't do that. The submerged land act requires the feds to consult with a state before they open it for drilling. Offshore drilling is the exception, not the rule.

So what are they are talking about in the article? These areas. that Obama permanently withdrew from production. Here is a map of the Atlantic showing the canyons Obama withdrew. You can find a map of the arctic area that was withdrawn.

Trump wants to combine the atlantic area and arctic area, plus the national monument in Utah and put them back they were. Many lawsuits coming down the road.
