Isakson from Georgia is the one who did not vote.
Isaakson is recovering from back surgery. He voted yesterday to amend the rules to overtake the Dem filibuster.
I haven’t seen a single word in this thread of appreciation to McConnell. Had he not held to a “no hearing, no vote,” position on Garland - in the midst of tremendous pressure from the Dems, news media, and some in his own party — there would have been no nomination for Trump to fill.
And, given the certainty of a Clinton win, there were many who felt that Garland should be confirmed, b/c Clinton would appoint someone worse.
McConnell took at risk, held his caucus together, and it came together. And he nuked the rules as necessary when Schumer continued to obstruct.
