Not surprised by this.
Patricia Telles-Irvin was previously, in 2007, Vice President for Student Affairs at the University of Florida where she demanded an apology to the University and its students from a student group who advertised a film they were showing, with the heading “Radical Islam Wants You Dead”.
The organization FIRE (Foundation for Individual Rights in Education) threatened to take UF to court, on free speech grounds, if they did not retract the demand for an apology. She retracted her demand, but only in a weaselly worded way that tried to claim a demand for an apology was not what she meant.
And again, at Northwestern, the retraction is not saying the college did anything wrong, and worse, not mentioned in their retraction, is the fact that the administration is trying to pry into the fraternity to find some other way to take action against them.
That’s why these college administrators make the big bucks ... they can let fly with accusations with impunity and are deft with the weasel words afterwards. Not everyone has this talent.
