This evening, Senator McConnell filed cloture on Executive Calendar #33, Neil M. Gorsuch, of Colorado, to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, will be the intervening day for cloture. Under the rules, the cloture motion will ripen one hour after the Senate convenes on Thursday, April 6th.
Good they really need to vote on the remaining positions (particularly RR deputy AG ) before Friday.
A vote for cloture always requires 60
Yo don’t “invoke” a filibuster. A filibuster is merely continuous debate. A cloture motion is a motion to end the debate and vote.
Probably doesn’t hurt that Turtle’s wife’s boss is President Trump.

If I’m reading this right, doesn’t it mean they can take the final vote one hour after the Senate convenes on Thursday? If so, then it may be because Prez Trump has to skedaddle down to Mar A Lago to meet with the Chinese Premier on Friday, and Trump probably wants to swear Gorsuch in before he leaves for FL. Where am I going wrong here?
It’s a move for force a vote on ending “debate” aka Demscum grandstanding. Still need 60 votes to close debate. It forces a vote to do so by Thursday. This is the first step in taking the nuclear option on Friday.

Between now and when cloture ripens, democrats can “filibuster”. How do they initiate a fillibuster?
It means the nuke is armed and counting down to go off one hour after the Senate convenes on Thursday, April 6th.
Vote on cloture happens Thursday. They can go nuclear immediately after the vote. You’re not missing anything.
Actually, McConnell can go nuclear on Thursday now, too.
