Attorney General Jeff Sessions has ordered the Justice Department to review reform agreements the Obama administration made with police departments across the country, in the latest move to boost law enforcement morale and independence.
The new directive, as well as a bid to reconsider an agreement in Baltimore that former President Barack Obama's lawyers made, are signs the Trump administration is planning to scale back the number of investigations into law enforcement misconduct -- and revisit deals negotiated by the prior administrations civil rights unit.
Sessions' memo demands the Justice Department review all its prior police reform agreements including collaborative investigations and prosecutions, grant making, technical assistance and training, compliance reviews, existing or contemplated consent decrees, and task force participation in order to ensure that they fully and effectively promote the principles of the new administration.
Some law enforcement groups are hailing the move, amid recent complaints that restrictions on police have emboldened criminals.
Chuck Canterbury, president of the Fraternal Order of Police the largest police union in the United States told Fox News the FOP approves of any review that will benefit the departments and the men and women of law enforcement.
The attorney generals approach is to assist, not hinder law enforcement, and we support his directive, he added.

YAY! Sessions is going to start dismantling the Federal takeover of the city Police Depts. IMHO, this was the beginning of the Federalization of Law Enforcement, so the Left could control EVERYBODY.
Good decision, Mr. Sessions. Please stay on it. Review the results and please share the data with the public.
Aren’t those all Obama doj lawyers?
No. Don't you remember? Sessions fired them.
This is awesome news! Drain The Swamp, Mr. Sessions!
No. I don’t remember. How did I miss That? Thanks.
More winning! Still not tired of it!
I hope they are erm... judicious as to which consent decrees they let up on and which they do not. Could be an excellent tool to promote compliance with Federal Immigration Law.
Yes he did, he fired them all, or demanded their resignations, and that Indian desi guy from New York Southern District refused to resign so they had to literally fire him. That was a good day.
There is a lot of good news today.
That was only the US attorneys plus he fired Sally Yates, the Deputy Attorney General. Most of the staffs and lower level supervisors are still there. I don’t think Sessions even has his own Deputy AG approved yet. He still has a holdover who is in an acting capacity.
Thanks.
My reading is that President Trump is about unleash the law on the leftist agitators. Time for arrests, cracked heads and handcuffs. Prepare for hell, you Berkeley commie freaks, because there’s a new sheriff in town.
