While it took liberties for dramatic affect, it has been pronounced basically true by 3 surviving SEALS in various interviews, one of whose arm needed repeated operations since his arm was literally hanging by a tendon after the fight. All 3 of the SEAL's said there was no protest and surmised by tactical attacks that it was planned and staged. They would know.
