...John Tester beat Burns in 2006...

Only three reasons why that happened:

1) Harry Reid launched an Ethics Investigation on Burns shortly after his re-election campaign started. (Of course that "Investigation" got cancelled as unnecessary right after the election....)

2) There is now and has been a state of absolute and total love and affection for all things democrat by the Lee Newspapers (biggest chain of 'papers in the state) followed in lockstep by most of the state's radio and TV outlets.

3) The night of the election, Tester was actually running behind Burns until just enough late votes magically appeared to swing the count to Tester's favor. Some time later, then-Governor Schweitzer got recorded bragging to supporters about how he'd placed the calls to the counties that had then "found" those votes but the whole subject of vote fraud got whitewashed by the good folks mentioned in 2 after those supporters all swore that it was all just "Good Ol' Brian telling his jokes again".

In short, if Tester didn't have a slavish media, massive funding and support from outside the state and vote fraud by his "buds", he'd still be back doing his organic farm gig or teaching school.

....or don't I understand Montana history either?

Behind the scenes: Schumer will remove the filibuster on Gorsuch if Mitch (rhymes with...) agrees by handshake to not go nuclear on SCOTUS slot #2. Mitch is a beta male, and will agree. IMHO.

For me, the primary reason, although unstated, for opposing Garland, was the mysterious cause of Scalia’s death.

One of the most powerful men in our our government and no one questions the sudden death?

I just hope the Republican senators are not so hopelessly naive as to think that the dims are above assassinating a man they hated.

WTF are you talking about? What gave you the impression that I want the Dems to get anything but kicked to the curb, dumbass?

A member of Congress, whom I happen to know pretty well, tells me something, I pay attention to it.

McCain, Graham and one more Republican certainly do -- the nuclear option requires 50 Republicans plus Pence's tie-breaking vote, and there are only 52 Republicans to begin with.

Does McCain or Graham control whether or not the “nuclear option” can or cannot be used?????

With Judge Gorsuch on the bench, I am deeply concerned that dark money will continue to drown out the voices and votes of citizens,

What the hell is this moonbat barking about? Take this nut to the woodshed and beat some sense into him.

Come back off the tree, sit down, and work with us and we will produce a mainstream nominee.

I'd be more interested in a bumfights video of some homeless guy beating the teeth out of Shucky Choomer's lying face... 😀

Tester is toast and he knows it. That is why he bends over for Schumer, possibly in the hope that he can save his seat.

Manchin is the smart one and I’m tempted to put even money on his leaving the Democrat Party and becoming an Independent. That would give him some bargaining power with the Republicans.

Don’t know much about Heitkamp or Donnelly but I suspect that Heitkamp is fighting to keep her seat and sees the Republicans as the powerbrokers right now.

heard a VERY interesting rumor this past weekend that John McCain and Lindsey Graham are in negotiations with Schumer to obtain 60 votes to confirm Gorsuch with a promise/guarantee that the Republicans would NOT impose the so-called nuclear option on future Trump nominees for SCOTUS.>>>>>>>>>>>>

WHY? Republicans won.

If this happens these two will never be able to find a hole deep enough.

“WHY? Republicans won.”

Precisely! But, to McCain and Graham, we won; they didn’t.

"My concern is that The Turtle will cut a deal with Schumer to leave the filibuster in place..."

That would make things so simple, wouldn't it?
