WASHINGTON -- Today, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt signed an order denying a petition that sought to ban chlorpyrifos, a pesticide crucial to U.S. agriculture.
We need to provide regulatory certainty to the thousands of American farms that rely on chlorpyrifos, while still protecting human health and the environment, said EPA Administrator Pruitt. By reversing the previous Administrations steps to ban one of the most widely used pesticides in the world, we are returning to using sound science in decision-making rather than predetermined results.
This is a welcome decision grounded in evidence and science, said Sheryl Kunickis, director of the Office of Pest Management Policy at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). It means that this important pest management tool will remain available to growers, helping to ensure an abundant and affordable food supply for this nation and the world. This frees American farmers from significant trade disruptions that could have been caused by an unnecessary, unilateral revocation of chlorpyrifos tolerances in the United States. It is also great news for consumers, who will continue to have access to a full range of both domestic and imported fruits and vegetables. We thank our colleagues at EPA for their hard work.
In October 2015, under the previous Administration, EPA proposed to revoke all food residue tolerances for chlorpyrifos, an active ingredient in insecticides. This proposal was issued in response to a petition from the Natural Resources Defense Council and Pesticide Action Network North America. The October 2015 proposal largely relied on certain epidemiological study outcomes, whose application is novel and uncertain, to reach its conclusions.

One of the Freons?
Oops, never mind. Duh!
You have one. Buy acreage, plant your own food and live as you wish.
Leftists want to control food supply. Less food available gives them power because people have to eat.
The EPA’s own research admits that the science on the pesticide is not totally clear as to how much potential damage it does at the doses it is being used at.
Liberal faggots hate anybody who possesses what they don’t. Envy and ingratitude are the hallmarks of every liberal.
You seem like a reasonable person and you have 4 wonderful children. You can buy organic and grow your own food. Those are two options. I have a toxicology background. Everything man made or natural has a toxic dose. The DOSE, is the key basic concept in all of toxicology. The dose diffentiates, the poison, the remedy, and the harmless in all cases.
I use some pesticides according to label, but I also grow most of my own food. Blessings on those children.
Thanks. We do pay attention. We try and eat cleanly. When we grow food we use natural pesticides that aren’t known to damage neuro systems of animals. But you can’t be perfect.
Still, it’s important NOT to fall for stuff just because some company advertises it with smiling faces. Like dryer sheets and most laundry products. Round Up and so many garden products. Way too risky for way too little benefit.
If any of the neurotoxins used in today’s household or farms made people feel ill and then vomit for a few hours, they would all be banned. But instead, cumulatively, they may well lead to Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s in 30 or 40 years. So they stay in our homes.
The few ppb of pesticides pales in comparison to the filthy air breathed by millions living in urban areas 24 hours a day, everyday. If you live in an urban area try to imagine the combustion products and particulates in the air you breath nonstop. The threat to your health from polluted air is a thousand times greater than the few ppb of pesticide you might occasionally be exposed to in the food you eat. The respiratory membrane has the surface area of a singles tennis court and is a couple of cell layers away from your bloodstream.
Can you do anything about the clintons?
