How could Clinton have allowed this creepy little guy to become her veep candidate? Or, I should say, why didn’t creepy Mr. Clinton intervene? He looks like the main character in the German classic film “M”.

He was a foil. He was meant to be cringey, obsequious, and weak. A stage prop ornament to contrast against Powerful Woman In Charge.

That is why he was there. Withered old Roman matrons used to keep pet monkeys at their side to make themselves look better. Same principle.

Gov. Kaine was the head of the DNC. Mrs. Clinton wanted her buddy - Debbie Wash-your-hair Shultz - as chairman of DNC while she was running for president. In that way, Debbie W-S could pull all strings and squash all competitors for the Democratic nomination. Kaine wanted something for himself when he gave up the chairmanship. The Vice President slot was sold to Kaine in this transaction.
