Bill O’Reilly Thrives at Fox News, Even as Harassment Settlements Add Up

An investigation by The New York Times has found a total of five women who have received payouts from either Mr. O’Reilly or the company in exchange for agreeing to not pursue litigation or speak about their accusations against him. The agreements totaled about $13 million.

Two settlements came after the network’s former chairman, Roger Ailes, was dismissed last summer in the wake of a sexual harassment scandal, when the company said it did not tolerate behavior that “disrespects women or contributes to an uncomfortable work environment.”

Yep; and completely unhinged. It appears all sense of decency and honor has been removed from them. They will stop at nothing to torpedo anyone and anything the right does. This is new territory for me. If they have ever gone this nutso before it was either when I wasn't paying attention or before my time.

My hope is it backfires and causes those who are fence sitting moderates to see just how vile the left has become. It's time to re-open the mental institutions and build hundreds more I fear.

To amplify your observation, it seems that misogyny has been added to the list of weapons available but only to the left with which to attack those who do not subscribe to their brand of statism.

Homophobia was recently added and it has been used to radically alter the culture, even the culture of the Marine Corps. These weapons are potent.

Perhaps the most potent weapon of all is the charge of racism which was so powerful a weapon that it rivals the Great Depression as the lever which wholly distorted our Constitution. Indeed, the idea of a Constitution as a solemn compact upon which the legitimacy of our republic rests has been to a dismaying degree discredited by charges that it endorses racism and it is therefore to be despised.

So we are seeing application of one of these weapons against a prominent spokesman that many people regard to be conservative. It almost worked against Clarence Thomas and, most recently, against Donald Trump. Fortunately, Trump was strong enough to withstand the assault, perhaps because his opponent was the walking, (barely) breathing embodiment of all that makes misogyny temptingly defensible.

Indeed it has. The more modern twist has been the weaponization of sex in the office as we have seen applied against Roger Ailes and attempted to have been applied against Justice Thomas. During the impeachment of Bill Clinton the left must been feeling a little bit desperate because they turned on their icon, Thomas Jefferson, for his relationship with his slave/concubine Sally Hennings in order to justify by resort to relativism Clinton's relationship with Monica Lewinsky.

I object to the weaponization of the war between the sexes which we have been waging since Adam and Eve. In this new incarnation we see not only on our college campuses but to a lesser degree in our courtrooms that due process is simply swept away in a spasm of political correctness. Due process, even military due process, has been shoved aside in courts-martial that have grown out of this new twist on misogyny.

One of the worst misogynists in recent times was Lyndon Johnson and his offenses were well-known to the press but got no play. Likewise John F. Kennedy. This is a one-sided standard.
