NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) News 2 has learned that Montgomery County State Senator Mark Green will be appointed next week as Secretary of the Army by President Donald Trump.
Green went to West Point and later served in Iraq before becoming a medical doctor.
While in Iraq, he was involved in the capture of Saddam Hussein and examined the Iraqi dictator in the first few hours after the capture.
Before being elected to the Tennessee Senate in 2012, Green began a hospital staffing company in Clarksville.
The senator announced earlier this year that he was running for governor of Tennessee, but the presidents upcoming announcement will take him in a different direction.
Green recently told WATE that no matter what job he does next, he just wants to keep serving
Hmm post more when you find it. Combat doc? What great creds! I am wary of any officer who was starred in the last ten years.. once bitten and all. Tennessee is the new Texas, since Austin has dragged the state into lukewarm conservatism.
Very good choice. Well done, President Trump.
....wonder if he was the guy with the tongue depressor in one hand and had his hand on Saddam’s head checking him out after he got pulled from the spider hole. I remember Saddam looking like a long furred dog all matted and knotted....musta smelled like one too
It has to be on YT somewhere
Could this flip the balance of power in the Senate??????? Heard the dem is winning over the gop in the run for Sen Tom Prices seat......now this
Nice that such appointees aren’t based on politically correct garbage. Everyone of obama’s appointees were based on homo issues, Brookings Institution fellows, feminists, and other total BullS#$%&^.
Let me guess: democrats outraged

“State Senator Mark Green”
Tennessee is the new Texas! I like that! Sort of. Hope that means only conservatives will be flocking here.
We fled SoCal for E Tennessee in 2015—absolutely the best thing we ever did, no question.

State Senator Mark Green
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
What may flip the Senate is to appoint McCain, McConnell & Graham (for starters) to Cabinet level, HOPE they get replaced with R...(Conservative - at least some that will stick with the program), then, at a timely moment, fire the 3 (or more) of them for incompetence and maybe rid ourselves of them making day to day decisions...
“The Impossible Dream”
Spend any time in Austin? There is nothing conservative about it at all.
Yes he was in Afghanistan as a Flight Surgeon. I voted for him when he ran first for the TN House and last year when he ran for the state senate. I am glad he won both times
Welcome to heaven!
Here is from Wikipedia

He was the special operations flight surgeon during Operation Red Dawn, the military operation that captured Saddam Hussein. Green sat with Hussein for the first 24 hours of his capture, and interrogated him for six hours. Following his military service, he authored a book, titled A Night With Saddam, detailing the capture of Hussein and the medical care Green administered.

He’s in the TN state senate, not the US senate
President Trump will never do that.
Or make them ambassadors to Serbia, the Fiji Islands and Tanzania. That would get them out of the country.
Lieutenant Colonel Mark Green did residency in emergency medicine at Fort Hood Texas. After his residency Dr. Green was selected to serve as the Flight surgeon for the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment. (known as the Night stalkers at Fort Campbell)
He has nothing to do with Austin
I think that’s the point — the leftiness of Austin has dragged the whole state left, from deep red to lukewarm.
