The problem with the dollar coin is it’s too similar in size to the quarter. The MORONS at the mint need to design a larger coin that can easily be recognized as a dollar.

The morons did - about 17 years ago when they changed it to a bronze color, with a smooth edge that included the mint mark and year.

The problem with the Sacagawea/Jean Baptiste Charboneau dollar is that when it when it tones out it looks like a giant brown penny. And unless you have really good tactile sense it still feels like a quarter in your pocket.

They need to make the coin thicker and change the alloy to something similar to a UK Pound. The problem then is, we'd have to modify every ticket machine in every subway and light rail station in the country. Not to mention the dollar slots - Sacagawea could turn out to be the financial ruin of many reservation casinos. :o)

Color and edge aren’t enough. They need to otherwise change the size and/or shape as well.
