I have a little different take on the situation. Sessions recused knowing there was nothing to the Trump/ Russia allegations. The last time Whitehouse lawyers went to the 9th circuit was before Sessions was confirmed, and they had their asses handed to them. This time Jeff has made sure the right people are making the appeal. The 9th has already signaled the full court knows the 3 judges issued a poor decision. To have the ninth overturn the Hawaii judge would be a major win on many levels for Trump and Sessions. If they don’t overturn it buys time to get Gorsuch in place.
I don’t know how many subordinate lawyers a typical Atty.Gen usually has working for him in a Pres. Admin. I’m guessing at least half a dozen. My hope is Trump, or someone like Bannon put a couple of aggressive firebreathers on that legal team ASAP. I guess Sessions presumes he has a good four years to sort all this stuff out, maybe even eight years, so why rush?
At some point, Donald himself may take J. Session to lunch and ask him, “ Jeff, what is preventing you from kicking some liberal ass here and there?
What do you think has to be in place before we see more results? Me and the conservative American people really want to know.”
