The age of the aircraft is more important than size. The data of manufacture is stamped in the doorway.
I got of a DC-9 when I saw the plane was 44 years old. I took another flight.

If it flew for 44 years, odds were that it would make the next few OK.

The age of the aircraft is more important than size. Over the last 20 years I've done a good amount of flying...much of it long distance.I'd say that at least 90% of the miles I've flown during that period have been in jumbos...747/777/A330/A380.You're right in suggesting that a 44 year old aircraft might be worth avoiding as I've succeeded in doing with my twin-aisle policy.
