Trump declares war on Republican conservatives: 'We must fight them'

President Donald Trump declared war on members of his own party on Thursday by threatening the political careers of conservative Republicans who helped torpedo healthcare legislation he backed, but was quickly told the lawmakers will not bow to "bullying."

In a Twitter post, Trump took aim at the Freedom Caucus, a bloc of the most conservative Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives, indicating he would try to defeat them in next year's congressional elections if they continued to defy him.

"The Freedom Caucus will hurt the entire Republican agenda if they don't get on the team, & fast. We must fight them, & Dems, in 2018!" Trump said on Twitter.

Because Trump faces unified opposition by Democratic lawmakers, he cannot afford to lose many Republicans as he tries to get his legislative agenda through Congress, including healthcare, tax cuts and infrastructure spending. But keeping Freedom Caucus members happy without losing the votes of Republican moderates has proven tough.

Is HE trying to lose his base? The whole debacle was not conservatives’ fault, it is Paul Ryan’s for bringing forth caca in the shape of a health plan.

Again I ask, did “conservatives” in congress ever do anything for conservatism?

No Republican can be elected President if the Conservatives stay home on election day.

The Donald needs to review what happened to Willard in 2012.

What the state does is divide and conquer.

Right now, their first goal is to divide Trump from Trump supporters.

Never. FC are a bunch of grandstanders and Trump is right to call them out for their BS. FC is perfectly fine voting for Ryan as Speaker who in turn lets them say conservative things to keep the base engaged. All the while, nothing gets accomplished but everyone says they tried.

Ryan can blame the FC for not supporting his agenda while the FC blames Ryan for not supporting theirs. Wake up ppl. Its a giant con game.

“Again I ask, did “conservatives” in congress ever do anything for conservatism?”

Complain a lot. Grandstand. Pretend to do investigations.

And when the GOP actually manages to get a majority, they do their part to hand it right back over to the Democrats because 100% of what they want was not handed to them in 50 days or less, offending their golden crowns of absolutism.

25 years and we have ZERO to show for all of the hot air.

Trump has managed to do more in 50 days than these clowns have in 30 years! Exposing their uselessness. But they will show him what’s what!

PRESIDENT TRUMP needs to revise the ART OF THE DEAL. Politicians don’t follow the same rules as business.

There were just as many liberal Republicans bailing from Ryancare as conservatives.
Trump is shooting himself in the foot going after the Freedom Caucus.
Their voters are his voters and he will lose them for 2020 if he keeps this up.
I will support Dave Brat.
I won’t support anyone trying to primary him.

Blah blah blah we are going to lose the House, Senate and Presidency. The Freedom Caucus is great but we have all 3 branches now (including the Court) and if Trump can’t pass an agenda because these 30 members are 100% pure, we WILL lose the government then you can have Hillary. That is political reality. Getting changes is one thing, crashing the agenda and putting Trump to do deals with democrats is simply a crazy over reach.

“....Republicans who helped torpedo healthcare legislation....”

Umm, it was “torpedoed” because it was Obamacare 2.0-—please simply repeal it and get government out of it!! This freaking illusion of two parties will be the demise of the Democrat lite (republican) party.

Okay, you’re mad at the conservatives who didn’t support Ryan’s bill. Reports are that the President will now work to defeat those conservative Republicans and work with the Democrats for a new Obamacare. What’s false about the report?

It has been said that only Trump can separate Trump voters from him, and he’s doing it.

“No Republican can be elected President if the Conservatives stay home on election day.”

Yeah we have 8 years of a f’ing nightmare president that had driven the western world to collapse that thanks you all for that.

Do us all a favor and find some other way of pissing and moaning over your single-issue disagreement rather than making us all have to pay.

Because with the Dems in charge, no one is going to give 2 shots about the HFC on ANYTHING.

How dare the HFC stick to conservative principles & not support that crappy health care bill that preserved Obamacare!

We elected them to cave in!

True. The biggest criticism of the conservative movement for most of the last thirty years is that it hasn’t been moving.
