So why does he keep picking on the most conservative element of the congress?
Simple, Trump has never been a conservative. He is and always has been a supporter of “government care” and thinks that conservatives are the problem.
Because they aren’t. They talk conservative and vote for Big Government.
If they were a cohesive conservative group they would have no trouble with Trump. There would have been modifications to the healthcare bill or honest disagreement and we would not have had the fiasco we did. I was happy not to have Obamacare II and the whole process gave a lot of exposure as to which members are truly conservative.
In the end the fiasco gives Trump more leverage to get a bill closer to the conservative standard. He will be fighting the Freedom Caucus to get there because its not in their donor’s interest.
Because he is not a conservative. Because he is not ideological. Because he wants to win, which means it does not matter what the bill is - if he supports it, he wants to win despite the details.
