Rice is no doubt carrying lies for her group, for her protector, whoever that is.
However, detecting lies is not an exact science when it comes to body language. I would caution us all not to place our faith 100% in the ‘science’ of lie-detection because the one time we convict someone who is innocent because they had a nervous twitch or some such, we have effectively condemned innocence in favor of hardened hearts. Christians understand this. That is not to say we shouldn’t try to perfect tools for detecting lies, it is just to say we can’t be callous with our conclusions.

But as a scientist myself, I see some unsound conclusions being drawn by Meyer in the above talk. On the other hand, I would not expect Meyer’s presentation to be 100% solid. Meyer impresses me that she might know this as well. She is, however, spot on at the end of her talk where she draws attention to what I call our new “Age Of Awareness”, as we are now all connected, I sometimes also refer to our time as the “Age of Connectivity”.
Awareness of shortcomings impresses me. It tells me a person is grounded and aware, and perhaps not a liar.
For example, asking “When driving, do you always stop for Stop Signs?” A person answering “Yes, always” does not make me 100% confident in their answer. A person answering “Most times, yes.” gives me more confidence.
Truth is a very important subject and can fill volumes and volumes, become a life’s work. Tools to detect lies can be as harmful as a scalpel in the hands of an untrained person who performs a surgery.
Some say, and other will refute, that one telltale sign of lying is when the liar rolls their eyes up and to their left. There are many such ‘signs’ but they are not always reliable. The above video does a pretty decent job though.
