Dems are being very dumb here. If they force Rs to go nuclear this time, when the next one opens up they have nothing stopping it which would definitely tilt the court significantly more right.
Democrats win only if the Republicans choose to lose, that is what they are hoping for. Their “good friends” on the other side of the aisle to “reach out in the spirit of compromise”. “Discard the politics of division” “End the rancor” “work together for the good of the people” “Be brave and swim against the tide” “do what is right, even if it is not popular with the base”.
Is that enough D bag talk?
I think Trump's plan has Gorsuch being the most conservative judge who could get 51 votes in the current Senate. If 2018 hands us more Senate seats, and we have another opening, then Trump has the freedom to nominate somebody even more originalist.
They have nothing to stop it.....I just hope the republicans don’t stop the court from going right!!!

The Dems are pinned down by their own Leftist base. That’s the price they’re paying for tacking left so hard the last election. Now if they vote for Gorsuch, their own base will turn on them.
Hopefully the consequence will be that the Senate cans the filibuster rule altogether so we can finally start getting something done again.
