The Civil War is Here

A civil war has begun.

This civil war is very different than the last one. There are no cannons or cavalry charges. The left doesn’t want to secede. It wants to rule. Political conflicts become civil wars when one side refuses to accept the existing authority. The left has rejected all forms of authority that it doesn’t control.

The left has rejected the outcome of the last two presidential elections won by Republicans. It has rejected the judicial authority of the Supreme Court when it decisions don’t accord with its agenda. It rejects the legislative authority of Congress when it is not dominated by the left.

It rejected the Constitution so long ago that it hardly bears mentioning.

This is a primal conflict between a totalitarian system and a democratic system.

Civil wars end when one side is forced to accept the authority of the other. The left expects everyone to accept its ideological authority. Conservatives expect the left to accept Constitutional authority. The conflict is still political and cultural. It’s being fought in the media and within the government. But if neither side backs down, then it will go beyond words as both sides give contradictory orders.

Indeed it will.

I see this played out here on FR.

So many people here do not understand Constitutional authority.

Take the recent "discussion" on healthcare.

So many here want to discuss it from a policy level, how the GOP needs to address certain policy issues such that they can then pass the "best" healthcare act.

Little to no discussion on whether there is a constitutional authority problem. Just accept the premise that the federal government needs to be involved and go from there.

Bring up the Constitutional authority question, and they go berserk.

There has been a civil war going on for a long time. The problem is, only one side [theirs] is fighting.

No, the Civil War is not here yet.

Our country still functions on, and many cracks are papered over with, massive government debt, in a printed, fiat currency. That currency and debt is still accepted around the world - so the game continues, for now.

When that stops - then REAL choices must be made.

Little to no discussion on whether there is a constitutional authority problem. Just accept the premise that the federal government needs to be involved and go from there.

The vast majority of members of this site are perfectly aware of the Constitutional issues you cite with respect to health care and the federal government's involvement therewith.

Just because some happen to disagree with respect to how to proceed doesn't mean that anyone has suddenly forgotten about the Constitution.

For instance, your assertion regarding Constitutional authority might apply absolutely to Medicaid, for instance.

For instance, there might be near unanimous consensus here that the federal Medicaid and Medicare "laws" are patently unconstitutional in both theory and practice.

That doesn't mean that the solution is to, say, start a violent civil war immediately in order to solve the "unconstitutional Medicaid" problem.

Adopting a condescending attitude towards those who believe in taking a different approach than someone else is not justifiable.

So thanks for the civics lesson, but I think you'll find that, in general, the average schmuck on FR knows as much about "Constitutional authority" as you do.

Don't be conceited...

Bring up the Constitutional authority question, and they go berserk.

Want to show us the Constitutional Authority to control aircraft of space ships to the moon? None of that is mentioned because it didn't exist and healthcare, such as it was, leaches and all, didn't either.

Bingo!!!!! Then what happens to the private “central” bank known as the “federal reserve?” It is not “federal” and it is not “reserve.” Who will own whom? Will the “fed” own all of America when the federal government defaults on its obligations? No one will answer that question for obvious reasons.

Yep, we have been arguing about the wrong issue from the start.

Then is NO constitutional authority for ObamaCare, RyanCare, TrumpCare, or any other care, period.

We have been fighting Jihad even before such a term has become fashionable. It is the leftist Jihad, not Muslim Jihad. You can't defeat it by economic policy discussions and elections alone. They have now taken over most government institutions. Now they pass themselves as 'rational mainstream' order fighting irrational stupid malcontents. This is rich considering that they were the ones who said,"Never trust anybody over 30's" and advocated dismantling all existing institutions back in 60's and 70's.

It is our time to trust no elites and dismantle their authorities.

PS: For those who cringe at any sign of boomer bashing, it does not apply to you if you were not one of them. If you were one of them and are no longer, don't be defensive. Some people are still subconsciously attach to the generational group identity. If you still has one, sever it now. It is not too late to do that.

Well, if the Civil War is here, I say that it started Friday night when my 12 year old granddaughter, in the tradition of the soldiers in our family (Iwo Jima, VN, Iraq and Kosovo), told off a liberal woman wearing a Che Guevera t-shirt at a public family gathering place.

While my son, a veteran of Iraq, said that the woman had every right to wear the shirt, my granddaughter felt that she should ask the woman who she supported a mass murderer, a question the woman refused to address. She left.

Now grandpa’s job here is to provide my granddaughter with the books and congressional hearings on just how many people Che tortured and killed, personally. He bragged about this and reportedly his favorite tool was a hand drill.

I’ve had friends whose family members were anti-Castro fighters. They ended up being shot by Castro and Che because they were anti-communist. This is one of the stories I told my granddaughter. Also having her read books by noted Cuban journalist Humberto Fontova (whose writings appears at FR and FrontPageMagazine, Townhall, etc.

To me, anyone who wears a Che t-shirt should be asked “Why don’t you wear one of Hitler, Himmler, Eichmann or Heydrich too since you like torturers and mass murderers”?

Did my granddaughter just fire the first “reverse Fort Sumtner” shot of the new Civil War? That would also be in the family as some on my wife’s side of the family fought for the Confederacy but the major fought for the Union. At least 17 were at Gettysburg (found 17 listed on one Pennsylvania regiment monument on that battlefield.

If the civil war has begun, count my immediate family in. Collectively been defending America since the 1600’s.

he woman had every right to wear the shirt

Your granddaughter has every right to express her displeasure. In this case, there is no reason one freedom of expression should be sacrificed to protect the other.

Thanks very much for posting this excellent explanation of what we are seeing right now. This is a must read for our side.

The leftist media is our greatest enemy. If the leftist agenda was properly exposed by an honest media, it would be rejected. That isn’t going to happen when the vast majority of the media supports and contributes to their common agenda.
