You see, when all Republicans running for office ran incessant ads during the past four election cycles promising to fully repeal Obamacare, Meadows actually thought they meant it! What a fool. When Mitch McConnell promised to repeal Obamacare “root and branch,” Meadows actually thought that he meant … well … root and branch.

And when Mr. Meadows read the fifth sentence of Speaker Paul Ryan’s “Better Way to Fix Health Care,” which declared, "Obamacare must be fully repealed so we can start over and take a new approach,” well, he though it meant full repeal, starting over, and a new approach.

Meadows, along with a few of his compatriots, didn’t seem to get the memo: that this was all a joke. Who do they think they are? Amelia Bedelia? Doesn’t he know they only meant to repeal the funding mechanism of Obamacare to make it more insolvent?

The distribution of health insurance claims exhibits characteristics of power law or Pareto distributions.

https://aheblog.com/2016/11/24/doing-the-math-on-the-distribution-of-healthcare-expenditures-a-pareto-like-distribution-is-inevitable/

For pools which include high cost patients, the expected variance of claim cost is not finite, which means that insurance co’s can’t accurately estimate their average claim cost regardless of how big the insurance pool grows.

That makes writing policies for people with high cost conditions more akin to writing options that pay off in the event of a stock market crash, rather than conventional actuarial based insurance.

You are right that this is insurance welfare for people with pre-existing conditions, but I argue that for the rest of the market to function, the pre-existing need to come out of the private insurance market.

I don’t have a health care plan, other than a free market for insurance and medical services, which provides the lowest cost and best treatment for the greatest number of people. Beyond that, doctors should be able to treat poor patients free of charge with special tax treatment; county hospitals can be publicly funded (but no illegals get free care) at the county level, and I should be able to use tax free HSA funds to help others. Healthshare organizations (which cut out govt and insurance, therefore both hate them) should be encouraged.

I believe all or many of these great concepts were incorporated in the FC caucus plan. Ryan and others could have spent months touring the country and promoting the ideas therein. But of course, plans made in secret by special interest groups were considered superior.

I recommend that you read the Constitution, article 1 section 8 specifically, for a list of federal responsibilities.

Absolutely stunning that I am hearing socialist talking points for health care in this forum.

I’m not sure what the alternative was. I was a Rand supporter, and here he is championing the correct answers on domestic policy. Some felt he was pushing some Dem talking points. We’ll see how Trump fares in that regard. it is still very early. I was not ever a “neverTrumper” so I am hoping he will turn it around.

The medical system's a money pit scam - we're being taken by doctors, hospitals, insurance companies and the government - - and millions of laws that enable the ripoff...

Who do you think pays for the gang bangers shooting each other in Chicago? What's your estimate on how much it costs to treat someone’s who's been shot? Do you think the gang banger's going to come up with the $300,000 - maybe make payments of $5 a month for the next 600 years?

Or a person who walks into an emergency room because no doctor will take them as a patient AND WE GET THE BILL - $10,000 to treat a runny nose.

My position is we create a three tiered approach based on the reality of our world and the wisdom of working AROUND a corrupt system. Corrupt? Salesmen for medical supply companies are often allowed in operating rooms... big money. You've seen the lights used in surgery - the one the doctor positions to ‘get a better look’? It has a little handle on it... In the old days they would autoclave it. Today a little disposable cover is put over the grip... comes in boxes of hundreds for a few bucks - YOU pay over a hundred dollars for one. ONE - not one box - but one little disposable cover. Multiply that by thousands of protected medical ripoffs and you can see the webs of the money pit.

And all these groups are 'donating' to Congress...

Maybe some newspaper will uncover the deal the Government made with insurance companies over 'Advantage Plans'... that'll blow you away.

I'm not a bleeding heart - I'm a realist.

And the gangbanger who doesn't worry about a $300,000 Hospital bill? He damn sure WOULD worry about a six HUNDRED dollar bill that was deducted monthly from his disability check. There are better ways... with strong incentives that work for citizens and against ripoffs...

Thanks for the Red Herring!

Yes, of course, evil Conservatives would be glad to use the child's lifeless body to fill potholes in the road - we are just like that.

Conservatives have no compassion for anyone other than themselves necessitating the confiscation of an unlimited proportion of every dime they earn for redistribution to the noble poor.

What I don't understand is all the charity hospitals named after Saints.

If Ryan had any integrity, he would have resigned now.

How do you have an overwhelming majority and not be able to pass a Bill this important?

Why not start with the repeal bill that they’ve passed multiple times (50 or so?) If you push that and it fails, then you tried to get repeal. At that point, most conservatives would be willing to compromise to move the ball in the right direction.

But this bill was as if you’re on your own 2 yard line and they’re proposing a play that will gain inches. Then they want you to treat it as the game winning touchdown. And if you say it’s a bad play, well, you must want the other team to win.

Did you have to send me the same reply three times. I'm not that dense. Twice would have been enough.

What I don't understand is all the charity hospitals named after Saints.

When those hospitals - named after saints - charge a 'poor person' five thousand dollars to treat a bad cold in the ER - they don't get paid - by the poor person...

BUT they do write the 'Jesus Cases' off their taxes - SO YOU'RE THE PERSON WHO PAYS.

Actually the Catholic Church might be a good metaphor... if you told me how little the Pope is paid I would be blown away with his humility. But when you throw in free food, free housing, free travel, free clothes, free 'servants' etc etc etc. Then it's not quite as humble.
