As he gave his brief press conference Friday afternoon confirming that Republicans had pulled their bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, House Speaker Paul Ryan both looked and sounded like a hangdog high school football coach spilling out a few defeated platitudes after watching his team get ground into the turf.
“Moving from an opposition party to a governing party comes with growing pains,” he said, “and, well, we’re feeling those growing pains today.”
“We came really close today, but we came up short.”
“I will not sugarcoat this. This is a disappointing day for us. Doing big things is hard.”
In a sense, Ryan was being too easy on himself. Yes, “doing big things” is difficult in Washington. The Capitol dome is practically designed to bottle up and suffocate dramatic change. But whatever growing pains they may have experienced, fractious Democrats still managed to execute an ambitious agenda in the early Obama years without a major legislative collapse the likes of which we all witnessed this week. The rollout of the American Health Care Act, by contrast, was a mystifying debacle. And as much as anything, its demise is an indictment of Paul Ryan that should shatter what’s left of his myth as competent policy thinker or political leader.
Journalists often describe Ryan as a “wonk”—or if you’re CNN, a “legendary wonk“—mostly because he has sold himself as one. It’s Ryan’s #brand, which he’s nurtured with a stream of lofty white papers and interviews with credulous reporters. But in truth, he’s always been far better at playing a policy nerd on TV than at doing the hard work of crafting legislation....

Paul Ryan is Viewed by the Entire establishment as wildly successful. He completely tarnished and destroyed any reform of Health Insurance without even forcing a Vote so the American People could see for themselves the treasonous bastards in action.

He was never anything at all. His whole career is based on his faux showmanship. This is a man who lost (big) in a debate to Crazy Joe "Mind If I Massage Your Wife's Shoulders" Biden.
This is a man who decided the best way to save money in 2013 was to cut the pensions of military vets, including 100% disabled combat veterans missing limbs.
This is a man who told House Republicans he would backstab Donald Trump, forever.

I won’t join the uber liberal Slate in bashing Ryan. The guy has a thankless job, and he certainly isn’t popular with the Democrat party.
He may need to be re-invigorated with some conservative principles, inspired to catch a new vision as to what it means to say “government cannot solve our problems” and the depth to which Constitutional, limited federal power should go.
But to repeatedly bash this man does not do any good.
Huge failure by Ryan. In the process, he tainted those who hitched their horses to his wagon. Ryan is officially toast.
Actually if it gets him to step down the heat may get us a stronger more conservative Speaker, who puts America first not his ego & his pockets.

Former Rep. Michele Bachmann was asked during a radio interview a few months ago why Paul Ryan was pro-amnesty, pro-illegal immigration, and anti-Trump.
She put it very succinctly, and said Ryan is a Globalist.
Ryan is indeed a Globalist who doesn’t give a rat’s ass about the well-being of the Amarican people — other than that of his donors & lobbyist friends.
He needs to be removed front ANY position in the leadership.
