Campaign Disclosure Complaint Filed Against "Wilmette Friends" Political Group

The purpose of Illinois campaign disclosures laws is to promote transparency and to permit voters to make informed decisions. While posing as a virtuous civic organization, the ‘Wilmette Friends’ are actively supporting candidates and opposing their challengers without disclosing their campaign contributors in violation of Illinois law. No one knows how to learn what expenditures have been made or where the funds were deposited. The League of Women of Voters, which has a lot in common with the Wilmette Friends (and the New Trier Caucus) is supposed to be nonpartisan, but in New Trier it would appear that the local affiliate is actually endorsing candidates and taking sides in a contested election.

The New Trier Caucus runs a completely un-democratic process, which has worked against the voters and taxpayers of New Trier Township for over 60 years now, promoting the candidates based on their ability to curry favor from the, you guessed it, the New Trier Caucus, rather than serve the constituency at large.

Opposition candidates have been smeared and attacked by the oddly named “Wilmette Friends’. This has driven some good-government types, people concerned about running a decent municipal government, to object to 100 years of elections without opposition in New Trier Township, to file a complaint with the State Board of Elections identifying the rampant violation of Illinois law and expose the hypocrisy of the ‘Wilmette Friends’ objecting to any challenges in municipal elections.

The village of Wilmette, Illinois, is a prosperous community immediately North of Chicago and Evanston, Illinois. In former times, the area was reliably Republican, but the Democrats have been gaining power and influence after abandoning the city (where their disastrous urban policies were in full force and effect) for the suburbs.

"Wilmette Friends" claims to be a civic minded group without a partisan agenda while promoting candidates. "Wilmette Friends" accuses others having outside dark money contributors while failing to comply with political campaign financial disclosure laws. "Wilmette Friends" supports the indoctrination of school students as to "white skin privilege" and other such concepts.

Repeat the mantra:

Election laws are racist! Election fraud does not exist!
