Russian authorities busted an international arms operation Thursday as police staged raids across the nation, finding a number of firearms allegedly smuggled from the U.S.
Russia's federal police agency released a video showing what appeared to be numerous arrests of men and women allegedly involved in the arms-dealing ring. According to RT, raids were staged in the cities of Yoshkar-Ola, Irkuts, Ulan-Ude and Moscow, resulting in the seizure of 19 firearms and an assortment of matching components, magazines and ammunition. Weapons including AR-15 rifles and pistols manufactured by Glock and Colt were among those found that were manufactured in the U.S., according to Russian authorities cited by RT. The guns were allegedly shipped illegally to Russia from the U.S. via the postal service.
"The activity of an interregional criminal group involved in the illegal trafficking of firearms, its main parts and ammunition, as well as the organization of a channel for their smuggling to Russia from the United States through international mail, has been stopped," ...

May a nonlicensee ship a firearm through the U.S. Postal Service?A nonlicensee may not transfer a firearm to a non-licensed resident of another State. A nonlicensee may mail a shotgun or rifle to a resident of his or her own State or to a licensee in any State. The Postal Service recommends that long guns be sent by registered mail and that no marking of any kind which would indicate the nature of the contents be placed on the outside of any parcel containing firearms. Handguns are not mailable. A common or contract carrier must be used to ship a handgun.

I got a CMP rifle shipped through the mail to me. I picked it up at the post office.
You can find more than that on the right block. You can find more than that in a FReeper gun safe.
My first thought also. This is just BS.
19 firearms?
After reading the headline, I expected they were talking about thousands, with shipping containers full...lol
What year and are you an FFL holder?
Workin’ on it. The divorce set me back a little bit, but I’m catching up.
=^)

P.S.- Semper Fi.
Not an FFL holder. Filled out forms to acquire CMP rifles, dropped them in the mail and several months later, there they were, IN THE MAIL. Years 1992 and 2000.
I still have the boxes with the postmarks.
Well even 2000 is now a long long time ago but I imagine CMP is a licensee so that fits the U.S.C. statute I posted even for today’s laws.
It’s those darn AR’s again..............
that finding chicken teeth will be easier than .223 rounds for???
CMP now ships by FedX. They used to ship by mail.

It might be cheaper and is probably easier to ship by FedEx or UPS now. The USPS has a habit of complicating simple things in my experience.
