Considering that a barrel of oil is running at $47.70...does anyone on the Canada side have any real interest left to see this proceeding? I thought the Canadians needed the pricing at $75 or more for any real profit out of this pipeline deal.
The important thing is it can be done now. At the very least the section crossing the Canadian border can be done and over with so going forward the rest of the pipeline can be finished as needed or wanted. Oil companies don’t have the power they did otherwise the pipeline would have been done already.
The oil companies can afford to go ahead and get this done with the benefit of putting lots of people to work and having the infrastructure in place for when the pipeline is again needed at the level it was before.
Do you know if they are still shipping oil across the border by rail? If so; that’s enough reason right there to finish the pipeline.
It’s a matter of national security for us.
