Senate votes to block internet privacy regulations

If passed by the House and signed by President Trump, the bill would use an obscure law called the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to eliminate the rules before they go into effect. The CRA would also prevent the FCC from passing “substantially similar” regulations in the future, though no court has ruled on what agencies can pass under those standards.

Critics of the privacy regulations say they are too onerous, and subject service providers to stricter regulations than websites such as Facebook and Google, which also collect consumer data.

If you think it is bad for business then don't give them your business. As I said on the other thread on this topic I have exactly zero choices for cable internet. Obviously I would love to have the low price and speed of cable and they would be welcome to any data they can scrounge from HTTP which wouldn't be much

That's without any hoops. If you educate yourself on what they can see without any hoops you would not worry at all about this non-issue.

“If you don’t like the cable company collecting the info, then don’t buy cable service.”

All those whining about the ease in regulation should team up an open their own ISP and provide the most private, best and fastest service available for free.
Ditch these evil Telecom companies. We want free internet!
