The Federalist ^ | March 22, 2017 | Bre Payton

Intelligence reports show then-President Elect Donald Trump and his transition team may have been monitored by agencies in the weeks after the election via “incidental collection,” a top Republican revealed in a press conference Wednesday afternoon.

“I have seen intelligence reports that clearly show that the President-elect and his team were, I guess, at least monitored,” House Intelligence Chairman Rep. Devin Nunes (R-California), said.

Nunes explained “incidental collection” of information regarding the President-elect and his team occurred primarily in November through January according to reports.

And I’m right again.

Been explaining FISA, CALEA and 1996 Telecom Law to my friends on the other side, who are calling Trump a liar.

History lessons on telecom and how we got here [gov spying on all citizens]

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3032748/posts

They tell us today they don’t collect locations of cell phone trawled for in pursuit of a target named in a warrant.

I want you to understand when they issue a warrant, many times, with “Reasonable Cause” They are violating the Constitution by:
1. Using “Reasonable Cause” as the basis for a warrant. The Constitution requires no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause.

2. supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

As to point 2. above wrap your head around “Whole Pipe” Access. Here they have granted themselves direct access to the Whole Pipe of transmission of information, be that voice or data and includes every last relevant part of a transmission, including location of cell phone at any time during transmission of wink/wink, keep alive, GPS, txt, email, incoming and outgoing calls.

Whole pipe access trawls every device transmitting during the time the NSA, DOJ, DEA and FBI is gathering information on a target. There is a technical reason for why they do this but, I still believe it is against the law for them to gather information, especially as a matter of habit, course and intent, of innoccent people, organizations, enterprises and groups, who have not been named in the warrant haven’t even a tangential relationship to the target named in the warrant.

Service providers are required by to provide all information transmitted by a cell phone, VoIP, PSTN, FAX, VPN, etc inclding CLLI and any and all information that would identify where a transmission geographically begins and ends, as well where the device is when idle.

Now, I purposely misspelled searcches in the title of the thread. Why? Because frequently the information they are targeting is just that much incorrect. Think about that and what I wrote as you delve into my article explaning the history, laws passed, and technical means.

You’ll agree with me, that the NSA and the other alphabet agencies are flat out lying when they claim they don’t don’t do this or that. They do because of the technical means they use to achieve their aims and also because they have less reason to not keep all that is caught in the trawling of a Whole Pipe, during their unConstitutional search and they, having no client to defend will, have, do and will continue to archive any all information they obtain unlawfully.

I’m of the opinion there was a FISA warrant on calls and The Target Was Not Trump but, he and his “employees” or “representatives” were caught up in the call.

Where the crime exists is that under Whole Pipe Access anyone incidental or inadvertent to the target were suppose to be “minimized” or “Masked”.

Someone unlawfully leaked this stuff and the Flynn fiasco.

Everyone of these Asshats are liars.

“President-elect and his team were, I guess, at least monitored”

For crying’ out loud, of course they were. Comey said there was an investigation underway last year. Please explain to me how the FBI conducts an investigation WITHOUT SURVEILLANCE !!!

Everything that I know about Nunes tells me that he is a decent and honorable man. Something also tells me that the information he passed on to the President was even more explosive than is presently imagined. Noting that Schiff is a worm, and that anything he had been told would immediately leak to the press, Nunes goes to the President first to ensure the leader of this nation (not just the Republican in office) is apprised of a nasty situation.

Wow. Anyone else just turn off Fox News in disgust?

We got like... I dunno, a thirty second mention of the fact that Trump was right all along about the “wire tapping” - but we’re then told is that the REAL story is that Paul Manifort’s connections to Putin’s Russia goes back “more than a decade”...

Gee, guys.. WHAT agenda? If I want propaganda, I’ll watch CNN.

PATHETIC.

I don't even bother reading these threads anymore. It seems to be All theatrics and sensationalism because everyone is referring to "may, maybe, possibly, anonymously..."

Yeah, Nunes was slammed by Bob Beckel and Dana PeRINO which is all you need to know about Fox News and where they stand on President Trump.

Fox News is despicable trash.

That is a good question. Obama's order to allow access to raw data did not allow this to happen, it is an attempt to provide legal cover to what was already happening. We will find illegal access to this data goes back before the order, and the order was only necessary after Trump won instead of Clinton.

Another question for Comey is who authorized the investigation of Trump that he admits is ongoing.

Why isn’t it a bigger story that Barky was spying on the Russian ambassador?

He should have been spying on the Russian ambassador.

He should not have been spying on his political opponents.

“Here(sic) me now listen later.

This is the follow up question that the congresswoman from Albany should have asked. If Comey was investigating Trump since July 2016 why did he NOT wiretap his phones? If there was a real concern with Russian connections why didn’t they do their jobs and listen to the conversations?
Here’s the answer Comey can’t give.

There never was an investigation in July. But now that Trump knows they were listening to his calls they need to cover their ass and say there was an investigation. Also since it was released that they had Flynn’s calls the cat is out of the bag. Obama’s policy change to release raw collection data to all intel agencies thinking it will help trip Trump up actually may be what exposes the corrupt intel, DOJ, FBI and Obama admins. Now that the raw data is out there it can be exposed and they are worried. So they have to make up a back story on why the collected Trump phone calls.”

Excellent points. You are referring to Representative Elise M. Stefanik.

http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3536760/posts

I am certain Obama, Brennan, Clapper and others were illegally spying on the Trump campaign and the Trump transition. I now feel Comey was also involved.

It is time to drain the swamp.

Agreed. Nunes notified Schiff about what he was going to do and generally, what the information was about. It appears the information was provided by a whistle-blower or someone who wanted their identity protected. And there could very well be information in there that indicts the Obama administration by showing the political motives behind the monitoring. Nunes would not want that information divulged by a highly partisan Schiff.

Nunes did brief NSA and the CIA. He was awaiting a call back from the FBI. I suspect the FBI may have initiated the FISA request in October at the behest of the Obama administration. You can concoct a pretext to go after X knowing full well that you would capture Y in your snare as well. Obama would not be stupid enough to go directly after Trump and key members of his team.

If the WH was involved in this monitoring effort, we could very well have a constitutional crisis. This is the stuff of banana republics and police states. A President elect and his transition staff are being monitored by the sitting administration and the results leaked to destroy the Trump presidency. Surely, there are still patriots and persons of integrity within our government who would blow the whistle on such activities. This could be the source of Nunes information and desire to keep it on close hold shared with a very few people.

I think it’s obvious what they’re doing. They use the excuse of “incidental collection during the investigation into other entities” so they can’t be held to “you investigated Trump illegally”. So, come up with some nonsense “evidence”, probably planted by CIA/NSA, so that somebody close to Trump can be the subject of surveillance and voila! we “accidentally” have transcripts of Trump’s phone calls.

They are fair game and any Russian diplomat is an assumed spy. Not a problem.
But casual picking up of US citizens conversations as incidental, who are running against the party in power is very disturbing.
