Former Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, whom President Donald Trump fired earlier this month, will join New York University's law school on April 1 as a distinguished scholar in residence, the school announced on Tuesday.
In a statement provided by the school, Bharara said he was honored to join NYU, and welcomed the opportunity "to continue addressing the issues I so deeply care about - criminal and social justice, honest government, national security, civil rights, and corporate accountability, to name a few."
Bharara was fired by Trump on March 11 after refusing to step down. He had been among 46 U.S. attorneys who were told to submit their resignations a day earlier.
The firing was a surprise because Bharara had told reporters in November that Trump had asked him to remain in the job.
As the chief federal prosecutor for the Southern District of New York, which includes Manhattan, Bharara oversaw several notable corruption and white-collar criminal cases, as well as prosecutions of terrorism suspects.
A graduate of Harvard University and Columbia Law School, Bharara has been a frequent visitor to NYU, the law school said in the statement.

...criminal and social justice, honest government, national security, civil rights, and corporate accountability, to name a few....
A great opportunity to program millenial mush heads with fringe lunatic liberal progressivism.
What’s so despicable about joining NYU law school?
A good inside position to keep tabs on the Clinton Foundation-Huma-Hillary cases that he was slow-walking at the DOJ.
“Those that can do, those that can’t teach.”
Thank God the poor fellow has landed on his feet. I was really worried about him. Like really.
How To Lie, Cheat And Steal As A Lawyer In The DNC, by Preet Bharara.
Countless malleable young minds will now be dragged even further into the leftist pits of hell.
What a TOTAL crock!!!
This is the prosecutor who gave the fraudsters on Wall Street a total pass in the wake of the scandals that came to a head with a tremendous negative impact on the people of this country and other countries in 2007, 2008, 2009...
A total disaster, wrapping himself in phony “righteousness!” Gag me, please.
“distinguished scholar in residence”
I think they misspelled extinguished.
I would have guessed a drama school.
Those that can do, those who can’t teach! A former US Attorney can’t find a real job? He must of pissed off the New York attorneys!
You are joking, correct?
No I’m not. There are many good, competent lawyers who have graduated from NYU.
