At the outset of a pivotal week in Washington, FBI Director James Comey delivered a political gut-punch to President Donald Trump Monday and the news possibly could get worse for the president in the days and weeks ahead.
In sworn testimony before the House Intelligence Committee, Comey said there was no evidence to Trump's claims that Barack Obama wiretapped him and Trump Tower, as the current president alleged in a series of tweets earlier this month. And he confirmed that his agency was investigating the 2016 Trump campaign's links with Russia's effort to intervene in the presidential election.

Yes, Gooberment and the media played dumb word games.
Trump sure had a very large and packed crowd in Louisville, Kentucky tonight.
He also said that there are signs that Trunp had contacts with Putin in December 2015.
...
It’s old news that Flynn was in Moscow in December, 2015.
I don’t know how leaks would fall under recusal. Trumps phone calls showed up in the NYT the leaks were/are separate from the campaign but who knows he should not have recused in the first place. All
If that were to happen the media will make excuses for the assassin and say he or she can’t be blamed.
Russian operatives were loading homeless people onto Russian buses, handing out free samwiches, and driving from poll to poll to poll, paying each homeless person $15 to vote...
....oh wait, those were Democrat operatives and Democrat buses
Comey’s not going anywhere.
Trump has done nothing wrong. Comey knows this. If Trump fires Comey, the Democrats will scream cover-up, and that will be the issue that will linger.
I suggest Trump and Comey have the goods on the wiretapper... Comey answering questions truthfully but allowing enough “unknown” and wiggle-room to later come back with info that points to true source of leaks and tappers. Let the enemy become complacent, let them think the investigation is going in one direction... then “BOOM”.
Comey playing it very coy to garner Democratic “respect”... so when he comes out later with evidence of Obama’s involvement, the Dems will be hardpressed to vilify Comey.
I think we should all relax and let this play out... Remember, Trump is always two steps ahead of his enemies.
And don’t forget who runs the Justice Department and the CIA!!!!!
Well, if Trump and Comey are on the same team playing multidimensional chess here, he’s got us fooled on all sides. Congratulations, it’s the first step in a sting operation.
Weasels are not rodents.
Ah, I was having some doubts about the rodent category and weasels. Well, a mix between a large rat and a weasel.
I remember Sessions saying he would recuse himself from any Hitlery investigations as he had said things about her during the campaign.
And, IIRC, he recused himself from campaign related investigations since he was involved in Trump’s campaign, or advising him during that time, or something similar.
Did you watch it? I haven’t watched a speech since the one started by Melania reciting the prayer.
I know there is a reason Trump did not replace Comey, and it would not be stupidity, laziness or weakness. Sounds very plausible.
I spent 13 years in the telecommunications industry. They haven’t “wire-tapped” phones on over 20 years. Probably North of 30 years.
That’s what I figured, and also when Trumps said “Tapped” he did not literally mean with the old methodology, he meant “surveilled”. Obviously!
When asked if there was any wiretapping comey specifically said something like “We were not presented with any evidence” (or something like that-)
He left the door open incase evidence is later presented or comes to light
“Not presented with” is not the same as “There is no evidence” or “No evidence exists”
“Comey will be dismissed by the end of the week, if not by morning.”
He can’t unless he has been convicted of high crimes and misdemeanors! He gets to serve out his ten year term if not convicted!
The FBI Director serves at the pleasure of the POTUS. He can serve no more than 10 years. J Edgar Hoover served over 40 years, and Congress established a 10 year term limitation. President Trump can fire him at ANY time.
Hope you are right!
No, FBI Director William Sessions was fired by Bill Clinton after 5 years into his term.
Yes someone just set me straight.
