This is nothing like a statin. This is actually an antibody that targets the enzyme that degrades the protein that binds LDL to the liver cells. That results in more of this binding protein which in turn binds more LDL so the liver can take it out of circulation. It’s an interesting idea, and is especially promising for people who have a genetic predilection for high LDL.
On atorvastatin since my quadruple bypass three years ago. Total cholesterol is around 110. Metoprolol keeps my heart rate in 50’s. Lisinopril helps keep my BP normal. Diet and exercise are biggest changes I’ve made.
bbb. Will check back next week
Is it a capsule? Can you get the same effect by drinking earl grey tea?
You might want to check with the FDA
There have been rare post-marketing reports of cognitive impairment (such as memory loss, forgetfulness, amnesia, memory impairment, and confusion) associated with statin use.

and
Statins are typically very well tolerated. Two risks that patients may be aware of are muscle-related complaints and an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes

Cholesterol levels and heart attacks is a BS scam to begin with and the side effects of statins is far worse.
“Repatha cut by 20 percent the combined risk of having either a heart attack, stroke or a heart-related death. That happened to nearly 6 percent of people on Repatha versus more than 7 percent on the dummy drug.”
In other words, statitical noise elevated to medical benefit by snakeoil salesmen.
agreed - big pharma is a racket
my doc prescribed some statins 15 years ago. I nicely told him I ignore his reccomendation.
latest blood work
LDH -125
HDH - 45
real food and physical activity beat drugs -always
Well they can keep it. I looked it up, it hits 8 areas that always trigger drug side effects. Always look up meds for side effects. I have 5 Gastro issues, you think I want to add more to that? NO WAY!

What they need to work on is how to raise HDL especially for men, as that is the big problem. Hubby is lucky to hit 41, I hit 85. Which negates a lot of the other 2.
Have you looked into K2 complex as your blood thinner, it actually dissolves the plaque in your arteries. And keeps the Calcium in your bones. I had to find a natural way to thin blood, as even a baby aspirin will set off the gastro problems. Only K2 Complex dissolves the plaque.
Small benefit demonstrated with small sample size. Statistical noise.
Looks like the typical shell game.
7% on the dummy drug and 6% on the new drug
What a joke
Bkmk
It’s an injection? No thank you.
Red rice yeast is a statin.
” My HDL is crazy high too which elevates my total. “
Lowers your total
“There have been rare post-marketing reports of cognitive impairment (such as memory loss, forgetfulness, amnesia, memory impairment, and confusion) associated with statin use.”
I was on statins and thought I was becomming senile.
Got off of them because of the muscle pain and my mental issues have cleared up.
It’s the inflammation that gets you. If cholesterol is bad, why does the body make so much of it?
A 20 percent cut in 6 percent of people taking it.. I agree, it’s placebo or random error rate. How about patient with a multi-generations history of cardiac related mortality? Sensationalized statistics to give people the false hope they will have this very minute outcome.
Ha...you were lucky....i thought i had adzheimers
was 15 years ago...anyway...at one point I read the label and noticed the warning about muscle loss....so i stopped taking the statins....and slowly got better>
I passed the physical for truck drivers license at age 71...drove interstate for 2 years...and 6 months driving delivering propane.....the delivery hose is 150 ft long and weighs 1.75 lb per foot...it's necessary to pull the entire hose out and check for leaks every week...when i started could only pull about 30 ft out without stopping....by the time i quit could pull the entire 150 ft hose off the reel on gravel road without stopping.
now i control cholesterol, glucoese and BP with heavy weight lifting...just passed 365lb leg press...which might explain why i busted the clutch linkage on my 78 ford F100 truck twice. (its all manual)...not too shabby at age 75....now i drive part time for uber.
Sounds like your primary is more informed...I’m told by Dr. Jonathan Wright, Tahoma Clinic, that it’s the RATIOS that matter, not the totals. You may want to do a little more research.
