A son of friends of ours recently died of an overdose. He was on ADD drugs as a kid. There is a pattern of drug addiction problems and several deaths among children of our friends and ADD drugs in childhood.
I know. I know. Correlation is not causation especially when merely anecdotally observed.
One of my ex son-in-laws became a full blown meth addict. When he went to rehab the first time his counselor told us nearly all the meth addicts he dealt with had been on ADD drugs. We had no idea, but yes our son-in-law (at the time) was on ADD drugs as a kid. The counselor told us the kids were addicted after years of use and then it was simply taken away from them at some magical age of usually 16-18 with no treatment.
The truly sad thing was he was a wonderful guy, very ambitious, great work ethic- all went down the toilet. I later found out from his step-mother that when his mother died he was 8 years old. After his mother’s death he struggled in school and was diagnosed with ADD...he was likely in mourning not even ADD when they drugged him with ADD drugs. Craziness!!
Of the one's I know personally who became heroin addicts, all were recreational drug users and all ADD.
May not be a coincidence.
