The year 2017 hasn't been forgiving to the broadcast networks. With a whopping 17 scripted launches since Jan. 1, nearly all new series are languishing with low ratings, even by today's modest standards. But that may not be entirely the new shows' fault: The root of midseason's problem, some say, is the middling fall that preceded it.
"In the past, midseason success was typically built on the foundation established in the fall," says Sam Armando, lead investment director at MediaVest-Spark, noting all but NBC (and sports-lifted Fox) are down this year. "Since only This Is Us popped in the fall, there just aren't any coattails to ride on."

I hear you. :) It’s not so often that a story can be interpreted on film as successfully as it is in print, but I was delighted at what was done with “Bosch”. I’ve watched the first two seasons twice and look forward to season three.
The Man in the High Castle inexplicably became a sci fi program out of nowhere. I just don’t think you can do that.
Here’s some advice that won’t cost them a cent and not even require a focus group. Make good shows that are well acted, have a good plot and don’t include any forms of leftist propaganda. Especially homosexual propaganda. Everyone got tired of it a long time ago.
I got rid of my TV signal/cable almost a decade ago. I’m very picky about what I buy on DVD and watch online because of what TV has become.
Sadly, I still think they’ll double down and put out more of the garbage that most people won’t watch. Their psychotic cause is way to important too them for some reason.
Slotting in Agent Carter was a good way to bridge the gap, though ABC wasn’t smart enough to figure out that modest ratings were better than zero ratings for the reruns they normally air in that gap (though, reruns cost nothing). I wasn’t personally a fan of the show, but it was a good scheduling idea.
I also enjoyed having a summer show like Falling Skies, but it ran its course.
Bosch - I’ve read all the books and love him.
After we got going on Amazon Prime, my wife saw an ad for Bosch. She had read all of the books.
I knew nothing about it, but after the 1st two shows in season one, we were both hooked.
Season two beat anything on cable, and it was good, but not as good as the first season.
We would recommend it to people who like to watch a gritty but good guy dectective in the LA jungle and super rich/evil people on both sides of the law.
My late wife and used to DVR some of those shows. The new actors on NCIS put me to sleep. I gave up on Hawaii Five O after a stupid valentine day show.
You were right not to watch it, I turned it off mid show it was unwatchable.
The 79 movie was pretty good.
no it will be a gay wearing alligator shoes and matching belt, wallet and man purse. LOL
I’m watching “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon”, it’s hillarious.
Yep . .Affirmative Action Jacksons all over the place....My wife and I often say “is that all who watches TV nowadays”? We daily go thru the “Prime Time” auto recordings and delete delete delete...Nothing ever seems remotely interesting
Same for movies
Said the same to my wife, NCIS is dead, horrible characters but they are woman, black, and Hispanic. All the food groups. Tony held it together.
Give me a Seal who lost his leg. The fight of the services, NAVY vs Marine. Throw out the black Brit and the Latino. Throw in another guy and make it a winner. Right now a loser.
Tape to watch later, Love Boat, MTM Show, Newhart, Match Game
That’s enough to fill the TV palate. No need or time to watch today’s crapola
“Gay . . Hero”
One or more token blacks, no matter how out of place the situation. Like the “back in time” shows . . .
I watched the first season of Man in the High Castle, I really liked it. Trying to catch my wife with season one have Season II recording. I don’t understand your comment though, it was always a Si Fy piece.
I couldn’t agree more, Grampa Dave!
I loved “Falling Skies”. I also loved “Extant”.
You would be correct .. there is not one new show that I have any desire to watch.
I’ll be waiting for more from the “Island” boys and their dig to find treasure.
I don’t know Extant. A friend tried to get me to watch the Strain, but then said something about a man’s part falling off and getting flushed. WTH? Nah.
Logan, the movie, I’ll check it out. Thx
20% of the population watches one channel? The other 80% is split between hundreds of channels?
Are FReepers out of touch with reality?
