Facing a affordable health care shortage that is spawning massive lines, increased prices and souring the national mood, the obama government is responding this week by detaining doctors and seizing insurance companies.
In a press release, the National Superintendent for the Defense of Socioeconomic Rights said it had charged four people and temporarily seized two hospitals as the socialist administration accused doctors, insurance companies and pharmaceutical firms of being part of a broad “economic war” aimed at destabilizing the country.
In a statement, the government said the doctors had been promoting unnecessary exams and were using price-regulated drugs to illegally make specialty items, like pain killers and AIDS treatments.
The government said hospitals are only allowed to provide services after consulting with a government board and insurance panel. However, in a tweet on Thursday, price control czar William Contreras said only 90 percent of medical procedures had to be price-controlled features of the government mandate.
