Sorry, but you don't understand the private sector Meals on Wheels program, how it is run, by whom it is run, how it is financed and who it services. I find it surprising that a FReeper would propose a government run solution, with its government employees & overhead, to replace it and its volunteers.

The government would simply do it worse at a vastly higher cost — a cost to unconnected tax payers instead of to folks voluntarily supporting it with their time & money.

No, you misunderstand. Go back and read my post. I don’t care who runs the program, I want the recipient/families, those benefiting, to pay for it. I don’t suggest it become more gov’t affliated. I don’t believe it is the responsibility of the taxpayers to feed the elderly.
