If the quote is true, Ted Kennedy is supposed to have replied to a remark that socialism has been tried repeatedly over the last 2500 years and it has never worked, "That's because it's never had me running it." Too rich.

It all boils down to arrogance. Conservatives are really just humble realists who know these schemes are doomed from the start. Sadly, there's a generation (or two) who believe computers will make the difference . . . this time.
