The much-maligned Obamacare replacement bill will face its biggest test so far on Thursday, as a House of Representatives committee filled with conservatives could derail the legislation backed by Speaker Paul Ryan before it gets to the House floor.
If four Republicans join Democrats in voting against the bill in the House Budget Committee, the legislation will fail.
The uncertainty comes as the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office released its estimate on the bill. It predicted Monday that 24 million people would lose health coverage by 2026 but that there would be a cut to the federal budget deficit of $337 billion over the first decade.

At least seven Republican members of the Budget Committee have made public statements in the past week indicating they want a full repeal of Obamacare, but its unclear whether four of them will decide to go out on a limb and vote no.
One of them, Mark Sanford of South Carolina, joined Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul at a news conference last week to slam the legislation as a dereliction of the Republican Partys campaign promises.

Really? BWAHAHAHAH!!!
My understanding is that they cant get a clean full repeal w/o 60 votes, and this can clear with 51. Then, standalone bills for interstate markets, tort reform, etc and the like will be offered as standalone bills and vulnerable Ds will be forced to get on record.>>> this is a lie. the whole bill passed in recon. the current chicken sh*t parliamentarian says it can’t be done. Pence is president of the House and can do what he wants. repeal and let the states figure it out.

McConnell will never finish off the filibuster because he’s too concerned with ‘decorum’ and the ‘tradition’ of the Senate.
These aren’t bad things, mind you, but we’re in mortal combat right now for the life of the nation. Procedural rules need to be set aside so freedom can be preserved.
They don’t need 60 votes. Something the press is not doing is reminding people that in 2015 they had a repeal bill on Obama’s desk. (Vetoed, of course.) They’ve done it before & the can do it again. The issue seems to be that their parliamentarian may say they can’t do it. That person can be overruled. It just takes GUTS to do the right thing.
Best way to remove a bandaid is pull it off quick. Same with Obamacare. Remove entirely with an end date of Dec. 31, 2017. Then have market & insurance reforms ready to replace it, starting a bit earlier so people can get things lined up for the next year.
That's where our healthcare was before the 70's and it was the envy of the world - the highest quality and most affordably-available healthcare in the world.
Not to mention the feds have no constitutional authority to meddle with healthcare. Nobody seem to get that or care about that.
To the tune of $14,000 even to those who pay no income tax. But we conservatives are supposed to LIKE income redistribution when the GOP proposes it. It's only evil when the rats propose it.
Exactly, no one is talking about this option. I KNOW Trump would do whatever it takes to get his bills through, Mitch is another story
Sooner than later, the answer must come to this: the voluntary cooperation between patients and doctors in the cost-lowering competitive free market economy where the patient has the choice of quality, availability, and competitive cost of whatever doctor/hospital they choose.
So when we say "Repeal Obamacare and don't replace it", are we clear about the only ultimately acceptable alternative? Unlike the stupid GOP, we have an answer. Not another form of socialized medicine. Not another warmed-over version of unconstitutional government interference which screwed up healthcare to begin with.
Sooner than later, let's put healthcare back where it belongs - IN THE MARKET ECONOMY FREE OF GOVERNMENT INTERFERENCE

Not to mention the feds have no constitutional authority to meddle with healthcare. Constitutionally, healthcare is a states' issue not a federal issue.
Let's embrace two of our greatest friends of freedom - the Constitution and the free market economy - in our fight to restore our Free Constitutional Republic.

There are market-oriented solutions that can be implemented. Sen. Rand Paul proposes allowing other types of groups to get insurance on the same basis as employers do. For example, 10 million Americans belong to credit unions. Why not let credit union customers form a group? With that many members, you could negotiate a terrific deal and lower prices — and it’s portable because it’s not attached to your job.
We might need to loosen antitrust laws to allow small businesses to form consortiums for insurance purposes. For example, why not have the restaurants in Manhattan (of which there are MANY) for m an insurance consortium and get big-group low rates, instead of each of them (mostly small businesses) negotiating separately?
These are the kinds of things the Federal government can do to remove obstacles to a variety of market-based options.
We can also expand MSAs so that people can save up money for healthcare on a similar basis to the way we do IRAs. (That’s tax law.)
The more we can get the government bureaucrats — and the insurance bureaucrats — out of the way, the better.
Trump said 10000000 times repeal ... and replace.
Sorry, that’s just a fact.
I agree, it needs to be repealed in it’s entirety first, but I am just pointing out what Trump said.
Right, not even Ted Cruz, who is being a hero and demanding that VP Pence override the parliamentarian (who is a Democrat -- why hasn't he been replaced?) so that we can "repeal every word of Obamacare" using reconciliation. They should have Pence make that ruling, then they should invoke Rule 19. Do everything it takes to shut down the opposition to FULL repeal.

Absolutely right. I could not have said it better. Why replace socialism with more socialism. We don’t want government in our health care and we don’t want to pay for other people or people who join that are already sick. That is not fair to US!! You don’t buy fire insurance after your house has burned down. Someone pays for that.
I support high risk pools for preexisting with some help for the poor but don’t make me pay!! We need a safety net for the very needy but no more free loading, The rest of us need to go FREE ENTERPRISE as the most efficient and cost effective way but dont load us in with the poor and preexisting !! Finally we need thousands and thousands if new doctors!! open up these med schools . Not all need to be brain doctors!! Don’t let Doctors control their supply!!!
Well, it’s a more efficient subsidy, don’t you know?

Exactly Jim. Who came up with replace? Ryan?
The Constitution’s 10th Amendment language is sufficient for what the replacement should look like.
Check out Rasmussen’s favorability rating for Trump over the past week of their daily poll—it’s been plunging, and it is because of his pushing this healthcare debacle.
