We did a road trip to the East Coast last summer. Saw where Washington got sworn in at NYC, the Delaware Crossing, then Philadelphia where the Senate and House met in the former town hall building, then to D.C.
Walking by one huge city-block-sized five-story building I mentioned “I’m guessing our Founding Fathers never would have imagined that such a huge building would be needed to be the headquarters to tell farmers how to farm!?” (It happened to be the Bureau of Agriculture building.) And of course all of those various groups have a similar building.
Hopefully, they can do something better with them than "affordable housing". Maybe dorms for Congress...required residency...no private housing allowed.
