Oh, please where did you get the silly and inaccurate idea that the Republican Party during Reagan’s day was all that conservative?

No matter where your fantasy comes from the reality of the situation was that there were far more Gerald Fords than Reagan in the party during that time.

Ronaldus Maximus would agree with me on this issue. There really isn’t any question about that.

arrogant sob, I never said anything of the sort, so please don't put words in my mouth. The Nelson Rockefeller wing of the GOP fought Reagan from the time he entered national politics. I was there.

What has changed is the fact that it has metastasized to the point where it is no longer worth defending. Reagan's 11th Commandment no longer holds water. Sorry you still think it does.

Your clear implication was that the GOP today is much less conservative than in Reagan’s time. That is utter nonsense.

If you would have supported the GOP during Reagan’s time there is NO reason not to support it today. He would be pleased with it turning to the right and its appeal to the voters. Had that been the case when he was president no doubt much more would have been done.

Not only was the GOP then more moderate but there were Democrats who were “conservative” on the political scale generally Southern Democrats.
