Many years ago the French wine industry was devastated by a disease. In Texas we had a grape that was totally unsuitable for wine grapes but was totally resistant to the disease. Our grapes vines were then used in France and grafted to wine producing grape vines. When you drink fine French wine and it is good, their roots are in Texas.
