A religious-based charity has received nearly $18 million in federal grants to help refugees and immigrant children who entered the country illegally since Donald Trump was elected president..
The Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS) has received nine federally-funded awards since Nov. 8, all of which came from the the Department of Health and Human Services ...
Seven of those worth over $13 million were awarded under the Unaccompanied Alien Children Program, and the remaining two worth $4.5 million were used to helped refugees.
...
LIRS ultimately raked in $60 million total for fiscal 2016 more than any other year during Obamas second term, and received $220 million total over his final four years in office. HHS and the State Department awarded each grant to help refugees and unaccompanied children.

LIRS is dominated by the ELCA, however.
They sneak by presenting a different face depending on whether they are making the case to an ELCA congregation or an LCMS one.
I think the main problem isn’t the refugees settled by the LIRS but that after genuine persecuted refugees are settled by the LIRS, the government uses those initial refugees as cover to send additional ones to the area- often the old world oppressors of the first group- who have no attachment to any congregation but instead form an enclave of their own centered around the welfare office and/or a Saudi-funded mosque, which prevents assimilation.
They then pull any church sponsored refugees into their orbit and you end up with “Little Mogadishus” ...
Yikes, you reminded me of my housework waiting... ungh.
I recently read an article where the Mayor of Springfield, Mass, was speaking out against groups like this, who bring large amounts of immigrants into his area and expect the local government to take over the responsibility of these immigrants and to pay for their subsistence, while these groups walk away having made huge sums of money for themselves leaving behind more debt for the local governments which places the burden on the taxpayers, who are struggling to work and pay their own way in life, as well as to pay their taxes for what should be their own government services. The only ones who benefit from this are the ones being paid to legally import immigrants and dump them on the local and state governments.
Missionaries need to be exported not allowed to import their mission work.
A lot of self-defeating money leaks were fostered in the last 20 years, with the pace accelerating under Obama.
It will take a long time for Trump to stamp these out—first he has to know about them, and there are so many.
China’s Deng said “Let 1000 flowers bloom”; in this different context, Obama has effectively said, “Plant 1000 weeds.”
Its amazing how Obama used per-invader funds to pervert Bush’s idea of public/private charity cooperation into something 180 degrees the opposite.
I’ve quit giving to any of the Catholic charities. We give to our church and click the box that says for “Capital Needs.” I know it’s all fluid. sigh.
These crooked schemes just keep Popping!
Like “Whack-a-Mole.”
Yes.
>> These are the money changers Christ railed against. There is NOTHING Christian about them. They are worse than vipers.
Yes, the abbreviation for this leftist group of taxpayer-bloodsuckers is "LIaRS."
Ann Corcoran's Refugee Resettlement Watch blog has an Archive on LIaRS along with the recent February 28, 2017, Refugee Resettlement Watch article, "South Carolina Lutheran agency cutting staff; will bigwigs in Baltimore [aka LIaRS] see pay cuts?."
LIaRS is headed by a woman who is a member of the Evangelical [sic] Lutheran [sic] Church [sic] of America (aka XXXA). However the LIaRS BOD also has members from the supposedly conservative Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, including its Director of the LCMS Office of National Mission and the wives of a current and a former LCMS District President. Shamefully, the current Synod President is a long-time supporter of LIaRS and has helped channel funds from LCMS pewsitters to LIaRS.
Attempts to get Missouri Synod convention to object to the funding of LIaRS has been thwarted by delegates appearing docile possibly from transdermal valium used in the delegates' security hand stamps. ;-)
George W. Bush set up the “Faith-Based Initivives program
Here Some Do’s and Don’ts for Faith-Based Organizations:

In other words, these groups can take money but they’re not supposed to discuss their faith. That wouldn’t fly well with my church. To many, it appears to be about the $$$$$$s!
Jorge Busho was a big government liberal masquerading as a conservative. His intentions were never good.
LIARs gets the money, taxpayers pay the bill.
Someone who tweets, tweet President Trump!
LCMS here, too. I was happy to see we are NOT a member.
Many did, but as alweays, many did not. Wheat from the chaff....
Catholic charities and diocese get even more Mexican (democrat) voters dollars from these democrat agencies.
Minnesota brought in many Hmong as well, which I agree with. But the Somalis can rot.
The Lutheran Immigration & Refugee Services ought to be asked why less than 1% of those they are paid to help are Christians. Instead of helping the persecuted Christians, 99% of those they are settling in the US are the persecutors, the Muslims. There is no excuse for that fact.
The Episcopal Church has become a refugee processing company with some quaint legacy churches attached.
“”which is yet another reason that Bushs faith-based initiatives to put Christianity on the federal dole were a bad idea.””
I agree.
That being said I have not read much about a linkage between Faith Based Initiatives and the money flowing to these leftwing church organizations handling the current inflow of aliens into the USA.
For the most part the Mainline Churches (PCUSA, ELCA, UMC, Episcopal, UCC, RCC) are controlled by leftists. And most of the Mainline Churches have major membership issues. With the exception of RCC, most of the mainliners have lost more than 50% of their membership.
Thus the Faith Based Initiatives has been a lifesaver for the leftist ministers and staff who have lost their jobs because of declining membership.
Do you have links between Faith Based Initiatives and the money flowing to these leftwing church organizations?
ELCA is your leftist Lutheran organization. I call it an organization because it is no longer a church.
