Which is why they need to be repeatedly sued - so it gets cheaper for them to property vet people than to keep losing lawsuits.

Perhaps. But what gives you confidence that background checks will make any difference at all? Out of millions of rides, I’ve only heard of a handful of crimes worldwide.

If background checks don’t work, then would you still feel Uber is responsible? What else could they do to prevent such crimes?

Maybe there is some technological innovation that could improve safety.
